Super Saturday YouTube Educational Video of the Week!

OK, this is a little late, but technically it is still Saturday.  My daughter had a Halloween Party this evening and we spent most of the day making food and decorating.  My 3rd graders are going to begin multiplication this next week and I wanted to find a video that related multiplication to addition. I found this cute rap song about repeated addition, "groups of", and multiplication equations. This is just what I needed and I hope you find it helpful too!

Super Saturday YouTube Educational Video of the Week

This next week in Science, we are beginning our study on weather, more specifically, temperature.  I found this really cute video by Eureka! that discusses Celcius and the boiling and freezing point.  It's a cartoon that I think my kiddos will enjoy.  It relates measuring temperature to the speed of the molecules which is great, because we just talked about the 3 types of matter: solid, liquid, and gas.  Enjoy!

We are learning about how to write a summary for the book we are reading.  I found this cute video that sings about how to write a summary using "main events". I like that it shows books that are commonly read by elementary students.  It's a Mr Heath video.  He also has videos for other types of writing topics such as writing expository text. The Magical Product Swap with Fern Smith!

Hi all! I am participating in the product swap hosted by Jessica Stanford of Mrs. Stanford's Class.  I had the pleasure of swapping products this week with Fern Smith. I was given the opportunity to review one of Fern's great grammar products about similes called Grammar Center Games for Similes.  My third grade is studying how we can use different types of words and phrases to create pictures in our minds.  After discussing what a simile was using Fern's poster, coming up with some examples, and listening to the story, Jalapeno Hal by Jo Harper(which has some great similes at the begin and end), my kiddos partnered up to do a Fern's center game, which is a matching activity.  Here are a few pictures of what we did:
