Cheerios to You! Solid, Liquid, and Gas Mobiles.

The 3rd graders showed us what they learned about the States of Matter. I think the mobiles turned out pretty cute. What do you think?

  2. Steal away! My teammate, Heather, did this a few years ago with 2nd graders and we thought it could be applied to 3rd grade as well. We've also made molecules out of marshmallows and toothpicks. The students love edible projects!

  3. Cute idea. I've used round stickers and Bingo markers to show molecules!

  4. Liquids are one of the three chemical phase states that matter is found in. Whether a substance manifests as a solid, a Liquid or a gas depends upon how tightly packed its molecules are to one another; this, in turn, frequently depends upon the temperature. In a solid, molecules are tightly bound to one another; in a Liquid, they are bound firmly but not densely, which gives them the ability to flow; in a gas, molecules have few if any bonds to one another.
