Super Saturday Educational Video of the Week: Weathering and Erosion

I took a break from posting the Super Saturday Educational Video last week because of the holidays.  I hope you enjoyed the holidays with family and friends and that you're getting some well deserved rest!  This week's video is about weathering and erosion.  It has Bill Nye and then a cartoon at the end.  I thought it did a thorough job of describing and showing real life examples of both weathering and erosion.  The cartoon at the end relates weathering and erosion to two super heroes, Breaker and Whoosh. Breaker is like weathering and Whoosh is like erosion.  I love the way they used super heroes and a video game, something almost every kid can relate to , in order to explain these concepts.  Hope you like it!

Super Saturday YouTube Educational Video of the Week: Fractions Song

We are continuing to work of fractions in my class, and I found this great fractions song by Mr. R., which describes each part of a fraction and gives lots of examples. I think it will be great to show my kiddos to reinforce the definition and give them some practice on what a fraction looks like, and how many pieces it takes to make a whole. I hope you enjoy the video!

Super Saturday's YouTube Educational Video of the Week:Equivalent Fractions

Soon, we will begin studying fractions in math.  Equivalent fractions are often one of the hardest concepts for my students to grasp. Hopefully this week's video created by Miss T. Allen will help. It shows lots of examples and also includes a cute cartoon about equivalent fractions.

If you need a math center to help teach equivalent fractions, I just created a holiday one using peppermints called Peppermint Candy Equivalent Fractions.  You've gotta have a little fun with it, right?

You can purchase it for only $3.00 at either my TpT or Teachers NB stores.

Saturday's YouTube Educational Video of the Week: Non-Fiction Text Features

Hi everyone.  Hope you had a great week!  This week's video is about non-fiction text features. I found this video from Miss C's Channel, which describes and shows great examples of non-fiction text features such as the index, glossary, captions, etc... It would make a great introduction or review for non-fiction conventions.  Take a look and see what you think.......
