Well, it's that time of year again, and I thought I might help out by sharing some classroom storage and decor items and where you can actually get them.
First off here is what I use to house my student mailbox and extra supplies: I set the first shelf lower so that my mailbox would fit. The other two shelves house my extra supplies which are in plastic shoe boxes and large clear, see through plastic containers.
This is a baker's rack that I purchased 12 years ago. You can get one at Target for $59.99. It might seem like a lot of money, but it is very durable and should last a long time.
You can purchase plastic shoe boxes at the Dollar Tree for $1 each ~ not a bad price!
Walmart has the larger storage boxes that come 4 to a set for $17.88
The next items I want to show you are for center storage. I am going to use the multi-color tall one for math centers and the other blue one with baskets and hanging pockets for my Daily 5 Stations.
You can get a similar one at Walmart for $50.04 online. I purchased mine at Big Lots last year, but doesn't look like they are carrying them this year.
This Hone Can-Do All-purpose Teacher Caddy came from Staples online. I got a great deal. They had it on sale for $59.99, regular price $199.99. Just checked, and it is back to regular price :( Target has it for $114..39, though.
I just ordered these matching magazine holders and baskets from Really Good Stuff for my Guided Reading groups!
The magazine boxes were $18.99 for a set of 4 and the baskets were the same price for a set of 4. You can get a coupon for $5 off a purchase of $50 or more if you sign up using your email.

Well, it's been a long time, but I'm finally back in the blogging world! I have had some "life" issues to take care of, and I'm finally getting back on track.
In my 2012/2013 school year, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to have a mastectomy. Good news is that the cancer was small, so no chemo or radiation, but I had to take the last week of school off for the surgery. And.... just before I left, I had to move out of the classroom I had been in for 10 years because I changed grade levels from 3rd to 2nd.
2013/2014 school year was my first year in second grade. Lots to learn, but I really enjoyed it!
In 2014/2015 school year we brought a Head Start program into our school, so everyone had to move classrooms. Guess which room I got? The same one I had been in before for 10 years LOL! :0)
So....I moved back into my old classroom. In addition, we started building a new house in December and didn't finish it until November of 2015. It was also my daughter's first year in high school and she was in the school musical and played softball (Softball is another big part of our lives. My daughter also plays club softball as well, and hopes to play in college).
So here it is a new school year, 2015/2016 and things have finally settled down a bit. I am rethinking the purpose of my blog. I changed it to, "Sharing teaching ideas and products" and I am going to try my best to abide by that.

One of my favorite activities is to do a class book study, and one of my favorite books to do a book study on is Charlotte's Web. I used to just do vocabulary and questions with my class, until I decided that it would be much more engaging if there were other ELA activities that went along with the book.
So, I created a book study packet that included reading strategies as well as English activities such as antonyms, synonyms, and proper nouns. Everything in the packet revolves around Charlotte's Web.
After using this packet with great success, I decided to put it in my TpT store and include answer keys for the entire unit! You can purchase it for 50 % off for one day only, February 14th, so hurry on over and check it out!
One of my favorite Valentine's activities I like to do is have my students randomly choose a student in the classroom and write a letter saying something nice about that person, then sign it Secret Admirer, or Secret Friend.
After writing the letter, they all turn them into me, and I put them in their mailboxes. It's fun watching them trying to guess who sent them the letter!
